Launched in 2018 as an information source for kayakers and fisherman alike, Kayak and Fish has continued to grow into everything I have ever hoped it would be. I love to share what I learn about my favorite past time with anyone who will listen.
My dad and I have been fishing together for as long as I can remember and my brother joined us when he was old enough. The three of us have traveled hundreds of miles and through several different states in order to get our fishing fix.
When Dad discovered kayak fishing some years ago, we all became immediately hooked. We fell in love with kayak fishing because it was relatively cheap, gave us newfound maneuverability compared to other boats, but most importantly, we discovered the community that surrounds it.
I started Kayak and Fish to share my love for kayak fishing with the world. There is a special sense of community to this sport that no other fishing group has, at least that I have seen. I want everyone to experience the joy and freedom a kayak brings you on the water along with the rush of adrenaline fishing provides.
I strongly encourage you to get out on the water at least once and give kayaking a try if you haven’t. If you’re also a fisherman, more fun awaits.
I’m James and I love to fish.
I have been fishing for almost 20 years and kayak fishing for almost 5. I grew up in southern West Virginia where fishing is relatively common even though the state has a high elevation. West Virginia is a great place to live but due to the mountainous terrain that the state is famous for, fishing suffers. Most lakes are small, rivers are scarce, and all of the fishing holes are high traffic. Despite all of this, there is monster bass to be caught in the mountains of West Virginia, often times with an amazing view to complement your fishing trip.
Kayak fishing has provided my family and me an outlet to do together that we all enjoy. My dad and brother love fishing as much as I do and my mother is extremely involved in our kayak group on Facebook. Together, we load up our kayaks and take off in search of our newest adventure.
Kayak fishing is more than just kayaking and fishing, it is the opportunity to find something way more special than that.
